Therefore, strategies were laid out as short-term and long-term approaches. To address immediate
need for staff in view of the sudden rise of cases, short-term strategies were implemented. This
included mobilisation of staff between public healthcare facilities as well as rehiring 100 recently
retired nurses (as well 1900 nurses contracted for service). At time of publication a total of 846 HCW
were mobilised from different health facilities to COVID-19 treatment facilities to help fill-in gaps. This
included 53 medical specialists, 158 medical doctors, 305 nurses, 203 AMO and 127 allied healthcare
workers.
