Strategies to address adequacy

of PPE

Based on the recommendations and guidelines
outlined by the World Health Organization
(WHO), the Ministry has listed 18 PPE items
that have been identified for the use of Health
Care Workers (HCW) in MOH hospital facilities
while handling COVID-19 cases.

The establishment of an integrated and
comprehensive data collection system on
the usage and stock monitoring of 18 PPE
items in each MOH facilities was the earliest
step taken for PPE planning throughout
the MOH facilities. In collaboration with the
Public Health Development Division and the
Pharmaceutical Development & Practice
Division, Data Collection System on PPE Usage
and Stock Monitoring at MOH Facilities was
first developed on 17 March 2020 through a
simple Google Sheet Link platform. The first
data collection started on 19 March 2020, which
involves all MOH facilities comprised of 145
hospitals under Medical Programme and 118
facilities under Public Health Programme.
